A GARDEN ON THE LAKE
Laying on the Borromeo Gulf, Verbania appears as "… a garden on the lake"; gardens and parks are indeed the main touristic attraction for this area, ideal destination for people aiming to combine holiday's relax and a beautiful and armonic landscape.

Besides Borromeo Islands' gardens and buildings, mounted as jewellery in the Borromeo Gulf, Verbania hosts Villa Taranto Botanical gardens. On this estate of around 16.000 square meters the botanical variety counts more than 20,000 different types of plants coming from all over the world. Again Villa San Remigio is a beautiful example of eclectic garden and Villa Giulia has a garden directly facing the lake that is used as a public area.

Touching the lake is something done directly taking advantage of its water: swimming, rowing, canoeing, wind-surfing, sailing and diving are the most traditionally played sports on the lake and tennis, golf, riding on its shores. The whole region suggests relaxing walking or bike riding tours. The surrounding mountains offer excursions of any difficulty.
